Cookie & Storage Policy

Last updated: March 22, 2026

1. Overview

This policy explains how Sagely Sprout uses browser storage technologies when you use our application. We are transparent about what we store and why — there are no advertising trackers, no behavioral profiling, and no data sold to third parties.

2. What We Store & Why

Sagely Sprout uses browser-native storage for functional purposes (your session, your gardens) and offers optional analytics — Google Analytics, PostHog, and our own first-party usage measurement. Everywhere, app and marketing pages alike, all of them stay off unless you accept them on the cookie banner.

Local Storage (Authenticated Users)

Local Storage (Guest Users Only)

In the app: The garden-planning app sets no tracking cookies unless you accept analytics. Its built-in storage (your login session, guest gardens, on-device feature tallies, and a short "how you arrived" note that is only ever transmitted as part of consented analytics) is browser-native, functional, and never sent to advertisers. If you accept analytics, the app also stores a random device identifier so usage events can be counted without knowing who you are; declining analytics stops all sending.

Marketing pages — consent-gated analytics: Our guide and pricing pages (Sages Academy, planting calendars, pricing, comparisons) offer analytics that are OFF until you choose "Accept" on the cookie banner. If you accept, Google Analytics sets first-party `_ga` cookies to count visits anonymously, and the page sends a single anonymous page-view event (which page, which planting zone) to our own servers under the same random device identifier the app uses. If you decline — or never answer — no analytics cookie is set and no analytics data is sent, to Google or to us. You can change your choice any time via "Cookie preferences" in the footer of those pages; declining also deletes any existing `_ga` cookies.

3. Third-Party Storage

The following third-party services may store data in your browser as part of providing their services to us:

Supabase: Stores an encrypted authentication JWT token in your browser's local storage to maintain your logged-in session. This token is scoped to our application domain only.

No advertising networks or social media plugins are embedded anywhere. Analytics comes in exactly three consent-gated forms: Google Analytics, PostHog (in the app only, cookieless — it stores its state in local storage, never cookies), and our own first-party usage measurement (product events stored on our own servers, never shared or sold). All are gated everywhere they appear — on our marketing pages via the cookie banner, and inside the app via the same banner and choice. One acceptance (or decline) applies across all of them; change it any time — on our marketing pages via the "Cookie preferences" link in the page footer, and in the app via the "Cookie preferences" button at the bottom of this Cookie Policy.

4. Managing Storage

You can clear all browser storage data for Sagely Sprout at any time by:

Clearing storage will log you out of the app. Your account data stored on our servers (Supabase) will not be affected by clearing browser storage — it remains associated with your account.

5. Do Not Track

We respect the Do Not Track (DNT) browser signal. Since we do not engage in behavioral tracking or advertising, our practices are consistent with DNT preferences regardless of whether the signal is active.

6. Contact
